What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I believe that as a very involved and passionate student at UW-Madison I am a perfect candidate for Class President. I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life, and have always looked forward to the moment I could become a Badger. The electricity of game days, the serenity of the lake, and the amount of academic opportunities have made my time in Madison the best years of my life.
As a student I have been involved in many activities such as Amnesty International, Intramural Sports, University Band, and The Madison Marathon, and non-profit work. With these activities I have learned so much about the diverse Madison community but I also found a place where I could truly be myself. I have learned skills in public speaking, leadership, effective communication, and empathy. With these skills I have developed my voice as a leader and now look forward to being an advocate for the Class of 2026. I am ready to speak to and understand the issues that the Class of 2026 care about as well as advocate for the ones I do.
I am honored to be considered for this opportunity to work with other passionate students to continue to uphold the Wisconsin Ideals for every student and to create a wonderful senior year for our class!

My involvement in various organizations throughout the past three years has developed my leadership, collaboration, and advocacy skills.
Some qualities and experiences that make me the ideal candidate for vice president of senior class council consist of active participation in multiple facets of UW-Madison extracurriculars. Working at Union South has strengthened my ability to represent student interests by effectively communicating with students and executing their desires and needs. Additionally, my participation in the University Band and intramural sports has taught me the value of teamwork and the importance of school spirit here at UW-Madison. I believe that I will be able to translate the school spirit displayed in the bleachers of sporting events, to everyday life.
By immersing myself in these different spheres and interacting with fellow badgers, I believe I have gained a holistic perspective of the Wisconsin Ideals. I am passionate about making our senior year memorable by assisting the President in organizing events, fostering a sense of unity, and ensuring that every student’s voice is heard. Clear and consistent communication will ensure that every senior is aware of important events and information. Additionally I would like to implement an efficient feedback system such as online surveys to gather student input on event ideas, logistics, and any concerns they may have. What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I am the ideal candidate for Senior Class Vice President because of my leadership experience, problem-solving skills, and dedication to improving our school community. Having served as the ASM College of Engineering representative, I worked to address on-campus issues, gaining firsthand experience in representing students and advocating for their needs. What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position(s)?: Through my studies and work experience in media and communications, I have the ability to connect and engage with students in many creative ways, the most obvious being social media. By using these forms of communication in a creative way, I can effectively get our message out to students, while also hearing and amplifying their voice.
Also, as a Latina student, I personally understand the challenges of being underrepresented at a predominantly white institution. I’m driven to help ignite change, and make this campus a welcoming place for everyone, no matter your background. With my connections to various organizations and programs on campus, I’d like to use my position to help marginalized students feel heard and represented, building bridges across communities and uniting all students, regardless of background.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: My goal is to make the Class of 2026 feel like a community where all students belong. To achieve this, I plan to use social media as a platform to foster connection among students, creating spaces where everyone can engage and interact. I’d also like to use the media to amplify our students’ voices and highlight their accomplishments.
Additionally, I will work to organize more events that help make our senior year even more memorable. I’d also want to organize events throughout the year that will help our seniors prepare for life after college, equipping them to feel confident and excited to start their next chapter in life. (…and of course, there will be free food at these events!)
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: Overall, I am a very sociable person who’s always down to meet new people!
Vice President: Gavin White Eagle

What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: Being a first-generation student from a small school and transitioning to this large university has given me the firsthand experience of being able to adapt to new environments and build connections in new places. And as a Native American student on Native land, I want to advocate for inclusivity and representation of diversity.
A lot of my time here has been spent at events, organizations, and student groups, allowing me to meet plenty of communities and people, allowing me to better understand the challenges students face. I want to make sure that every student feels heard and supported.
I believe as vice president, with my experiences, I can help make campus a better place.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: I want to create a social media presence that follows our senior class and highlights seniors’ positive moments through university. I would also like to create events that help bring students together as well as plan post-graduation.

Nellore/Rose
President: Dharshita Nellore
Hometown: Hyderbad, India
Major/Certificate(s): BS Biology (Honors) with Certificates in Environmental Studies and Biocore (Honors)
What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I have been working as a Community Relations Intern at the UW- South Madison Partnership where I have worked with the SMP team to support, manage, and help with marketing and sometimes managing the front desk at the space to assist with connecting with the community. I have also been working as a General chemistry lab assistant where I guide students taking general chemistry courses in the lab sections. I also work as an undergraduate researcher at the Barak lab on campus, where I am part of a research team that investigates the plant-microbe interactions. I am part of the Board of Directors for Biocore 383/384 (Cell Biology Unit of the Biocore Program), where I as part of a team of other peers act as a bridge between the instruction team and the students. All these experiences have helped me develop skills and qualities that would allow me to communicate effectively to people with differing interests and experiences. These also helped me think critically to address problems that come up in the labs or at the community space. I learnt to think quantitatively about ‘values’ through some of my work experiences, but about the moral and ethical ‘values’ through the social aspects of my experiences. I have been part of the student governing body at my high school as well, where I was approachable to my peers and other students to share their ideas and concerns. I worked as part of teams either as a member or as a leader of the team, and all the while open to learning and growing. I am also very adaptable to situations and would take up different roles within a group as required by the team.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: As part of the Senior Class Office, I would reach out and find out the interests of the peers to understand the initiatives that they are interested in supporting. I believe in teamwork, and this would be a place for me to include the interests of everyone in the group by making it inclusive and giving all of them a chance to share their ideas. Sharing of ideas is usually what leads to the best ideas, similar to how cross-pollination among plants can lead to new variations of flowers. The interests can range from health of the planet to the health of the people inhabiting the planet. I would propose the idea of supporting an initiative that helps improve food security in the world, because I had taken a class on global food security in my earlier semesters, and I have realized what a huge impact it can have on the health of planet and people. There are a lot of organizations that support this cause and if Badgers were interested to support this cause, there would be a huge positive impact for people around the world. It can range from what crops are grown to how they are grown to how they are distributed and stored. This is just one idea, but talking with other peers will help us learn and grow from each other to come up with an initiative that Badgers are interested in supporting and one that can impact the world around us.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: I have started volunteering for the Wisconsin Association for Food Protection (WAFP). I am also part of an Indian Classical Dance club called Wisconsin VIRA, which helps me stay active and find new people and perspectives to share my views with. I have also volunteered at the Biocore Outreach Ambassador events (BOA) and the Greater University Tutoring Services (GUTS).
Vice President: Mir Ramisa Raiyan Rose

What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I thrive in leadership roles where I can bring people together, create meaningful experiences, and advocate for student voices. At UW-Madison, I’ve mentored freshmen, managed communities, and planned large-scale events—all while balancing academics, leadership, and community service. As a HouseFellow for a diverse group of students, I’ve built a strong sense of community, organized events, and handled everything from conflict resolution to student advocacy. As a WISE Peer Mentor, I’ve supported underclassmen in navigating campus life, and as VP of the Bangladesh Student Association, I’ve successfully led initiatives that celebrated culture, identity, and student engagement. Currently I am serving as an International Student Services Advisory Board member!
My experiences have taught me how to turn ideas into action, listen to what students want, and deliver results. I know how to manage events, coordinate with administrators, and ensure that student needs are prioritized—skills that will make me an effective Senior Class Officer.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: If elected, my goal is to ensure that every senior feels seen, heard, and valued in shaping our final year at UW-Madison. I want to foster a sense of belonging and connection, ensuring that our senior experience is memorable, inclusive, and impactful. Our class is made up of diverse individuals, each with unique journeys, and I want to make sure that our events, initiatives, and traditions reflect and celebrate all of us. Leadership, to me, is not about standing in front and giving orders—it’s about standing with people, listening, and making changes that matter. I will work to strengthen student engagement, create meaningful traditions, and enhance communication so that everyone has a voice in decisions that shape our class legacy. This isn’t just about one year—it’s about the lasting impact we leave behind, the memories we create, and the community we build together.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: I believe that true leadership isn’t about standing in the spotlight—it’s about making sure everyone else shines. My approach has always been to lead from behind, supporting, guiding, and empowering those around me. Whether mentoring, organizing, or advocating, my goal is to create spaces where people feel valued and heard. I thrive on bringing people together, turning ideas into action, and ensuring that no one is left behind. For me, leadership is about building something greater than myself—something that lasts, impacts others, and brings people together.

President: Lily Nothom
Hometown: Wayzata, MN
Major/Certificate(s): Data Science and Global Health with an Economic Analytics certificate
What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: Throughout my time at UW, I have actively prioritized tackling challenges for students and increasing access to student resources. This has been through community health volunteer work at UW Health, being an active member of the Grant Allocation Committee in ASM, and undergraduate research in biostatistics and health equity. In these roles, I have been able to work hands-on to address disparities and strengthen community and school resources that students need to thrive. These positions have cemented my passions in advocacy, problem-solving, and leadership and have prepared me to up-lift the senior class as President. I am committed to ensuring every student feels heard, supported, and celebrated in our final year. Sam and I will both bring a wealth of experience and determination to create a lasting and meaningful impact at UW.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?:
– Advocate for the expansion of mental health resources to include more providers, availability, and peer-led mental health initiatives to support students.
– Expand access to professional development, mentorship, and financial literacy programs by working with the Alumni Association and local businesses.
– Ensure senior events, traditions, and leadership reflect UW’s diverse student body by collaborating with multicultural organizations and advocating for more accessible and culturally inclusive celebrations.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: As a woman of color, I understand the importance of representation, its impact on students, and creating a more inclusive and supportive campus community. Seeing yourself reflected in leadership positions matters, yet the history of women of color serving as Senior Class President is overwhelmingly and disappointedly sparse. The lack of representation is not just about numbers but ensuring that whoever sits at the table is mindful of diverse perspectives and experiences. I am committed to advocating for all students, especially people historically underrepresented in leadership spaces. If elected, Sam and I will ensure every student, regardless of background and identity, feels heard, valued, and supported.
Vice President: Sam Swartz

What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position(s)?: Growing up in Madison and attending UW, I have always looked for ways to connect with the community that I love. My experiences — as a supervisor with University Housing, a broadcaster with student radio WSUM and community radio WORT, a journalist with local NBC affiliate WMTV 15 News, and an election official with the City of Madison — have all reinforced my passion for serving people. These roles developed my passion to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and understand the different perspectives of UW students. The same sentiment and curiosity extends to the Senior Class Office as Vice President. Lily and I will strive to bring the Class of 2026 together, celebrate our community, and listen to the needs and wants of fellow students to advocate for desired change.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: Historically, the Senior Class Office has had a severe lack of representation of the LGBTQ+ community. As a gay man, I know the importance of feeling seen and included in our leadership. I promise to seek out those who may feel marginalized and go out of my way to invite them in. Community is built by listening with intention, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding different perspectives. My word is my bond, and I will work wholeheartedly to deliver on promises made while being receptive to compromise. No matter the task, Lily and I will approach our work with diligence and a commitment to serving those around us.

Weingartner/Waldman
President: Ruby Weingartner
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
Major/Certificate(s): Political Science Major. Fine Art and Education Policy Certificates.
What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I love being a Wisconsin Badger, which is the best quality one can look for in a great leader on campus. I grew up in New York City, and coming to Wisconsin was intimidating, but the UW community has allowed me to find lifelong friends who are uniquely themselves and UW to their core. Through my peers, I have seen Wisconsin’s impact on students, the special sauce that emanates from the shores of Mendota into classes, student clubs, Greek life, and every permutation that is Wisconsin. The UW magic drove us all to Madison, and in our exploration, we’ve become a community of leaders, scholars, and friends; a celebration like no other. I have had numerous leadership positions in high school, from spearheading city council campaigns to running my high school art clubs, and I have experience guiding my peers and leading groups. I have continued my goals now in college as I sit on the Chabad house board. I am an active member of the Young Democrats Society and my sorority. Leading clubs and groups is something that comes naturally to me, and it would be an honor to continue this passion as President of the senior class. Additionally, I am a dyslexic student who has not had an easy experience in the classroom setting. UW has made me feel seen and heard as a student and encouraged me to continue my goals post-graduation in the public sector. I know how hard it is to stand up for yourself and your education; therefore, I want to represent those students who must work extra hard and be persistent to succeed. In addition, I deeply understand the Wisconsin Idea and am excited to share it with my peers. I have gained some of this knowledge thanks to my father, a UW alum, who held the President position in 1992. It would be an honor to follow in his footsteps.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: If elected, our primary goal is to support the senior class by encouraging mental health services with student-to-student support and uplifting student-led initiatives. I plan to facilitate open conversations where students feel free to express their feelings and emotions. Students supporting one another is the goal, where Badgers can relate to each other and feel safe to share what they are experiencing. Senior year can be filled with joy and celebrations, but it also brings anxiety with the looming element of post-graduation. We want to increase student-led environmental innovations and breakthroughs in an uncertain world.

What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position(s)?: Ever since my acceptance notification from UW-Madison, I have proudly worn my red sweatshirt as a reminder of what it means to be a Badger. To take advantage of this vibrant campus, to be confident in who I am and where I come from, and to be a leader. I believe that my combination of leadership experience, unique personality, and dedication to the Wisconsin Idea makes me the perfect candidate for student council vice president. I proudly serve on the executive board of the Women’s Pre-Law Association, Miracle Network Badgerthon, and The Dish Magazine. I am eager to take the skills I have learned at Wisconsin thus far and use them to advocate for the benefit of seniors. My personality and outgoing nature allow me to connect with a diverse range of students and foster an inclusive environment. I am also a strong-hearted and resilient individual, qualities that are essential when facing the challenges of leadership. My genuine passion for making UW-Madison a better place sets me apart from other candidates. I can confidently say that as I enter my senior year, attending Wisconsin has been the most rewarding decision of my life. I wish to share the beauty of the Wisconsin Idea with my peers as we end our last year in Madison together. I am dedicated to creating a more connected student body, one that is prepared for graduation. If elected vice president, I will bring fresh ideas to the table, ensuring student voices are respected. I am committed to using these aspects of my personality, combined with my past experiences, as vice president to create a positive experience where each student can thrive.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: While Wisconsin accomplishes many goals, improvements must continue on campus. Ruby and I would like to give the seniors an unforgettable closing year if elected. A celebration for the senior class, filled with activities for students to reflect and commemorate their accomplishments at UW Madison, is another goal of ours. While celebrating the end of college, we also recognize the mental health struggles that come with senior year. We want to be a supportive resource for the entire class, providing outlets as students transition into the post-graduation life. Encouraging discussions where students can talk about the unknown transition to life after college is a way we would like to show our peers support. By combining fun events with mental health support, we want to show seniors that we understand the challenges they are facing and help them feel confident upon graduation. It would be an honor to guide the senior class into their next chapter in life with an even better understanding of what it means to be a Badger.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: Together, Ruby and I are a powerful duo, perfect for the president and vice president positions. We are united by our deep friendship, shared values, and true understanding of the Wisconsin Idea. Madison is the place that brought us together. Here, we have built a foundation of trust, collaboration, and respect that translates into how we approach leadership. We complement each other’s strengths and work seamlessly together, constantly pushing each other to work wholeheartedly. I am proud to be Ruby’s friend and am eager to stand by her side in this election. Our success as SCO will come from our close-knit bond and support for one another. Ruby and I work together as a team, where friendship is a valuable aspect of our ability to get tasks completed. If elected, I am confident we will be a strong team in leading the senior class through our last moments on campus together. Our unique bond and shared vision for a more dynamic campus drive us to create an empowered student body.

What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?: I believe my leadership, communication, and organizational skills make me an ideal candidate for Senior Class Officer at UW-Madison. As Team Manager for Wisconsin Women’s Basketball, I’ve led teams and coordinated events, while my role as Chair of the Black History Month Planning Committee demonstrates my ability to oversee projects and collaborate with diverse groups. My experience in marketing with the UW Homecoming Committee and as a campus ambassador for Evolvez Agency further strengthens my ability to engage with the campus community. Additionally, my academic commitment in the Grainger School of Business shows I can balance responsibilities and deliver results. I am eager to use these skills to serve and represent the class of 2026.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: If elected as Senior Class Officer, my plans would focus on creating a meaningful and memorable senior year experience for the class of 2026. I would collaborate with Student Affairs, the Office of the Chancellor, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association & Foundation to organize both the winter and spring commencement ceremonies, ensuring they reflect our unique class spirit and achievements. I also aim to keep traditions like the senior class shirt giveaway during Welcome Week, which fosters class unity and pride. In addition, I would advocate for increasing the quantity of shirts to ensure that every senior has the opportunity to receive one, as I’ve heard feedback from students who missed out due to limited supply. I would also lead efforts to select a Class Gift that resonates with our values and legacy, ensuring proper surveying within the senior class to determine which cause or organization should receive the gift, reflecting our collective priorities. Drawing from my experience in event planning and leadership, I would organize senior-inspired events that foster connection, celebrate our accomplishments, and help prepare us for the transition after graduation.
Additionally, I would implement more social events specifically designed for the senior class to network and build relationships before entering our professional careers. These social events would offer a fun and relaxed way to escape traditional networking opportunities and help seniors create genuine social bonds that can extend into their careers.
Moreover, I will advocate for all students, ensuring that their needs and wants are represented in the work of the Senior Class Officers. This includes going beyond just collaborating with campus organizations and administration to make sure every voice is heard. As a Black woman and a student of color, I know firsthand how critical it is for diverse perspectives to be included in decision-making. My goal is to ensure that all students feel seen, supported, and represented throughout their senior year, and that we create a truly inclusive and impactful experience for the class of 2026.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: Since my freshman year, I have been deeply involved on campus and take immense pride in being a Wisconsin Badger. Additionally, I was fortunate to be part of the UW Homecoming Committee, where I helped plan and promote events that bring together students, alumni, and faculty to celebrate our school spirit and traditions. These experiences have allowed me to build strong connections on campus and solidify my commitment to making a positive impact as a Badger. Through my involvement, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the university’s culture, and I am eager to continue contributing to its legacy.

These roles have strengthened my ability to organize meaningful programming, engage with the student body, and ensure that every voice is heard. With my leadership and event planning background, I am confident in my ability to create a senior year that is both memorable and inclusive.
If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?: My goal is to make this senior year truly unique. I want to move beyond the typical programming and create events that reflect what students actually want. This means prioritizing diverse, engaging, and memorable experiences that bring the senior class together. By listening to student input and implementing fresh ideas, I will ensure that our class enjoys a year filled with meaningful traditions and new opportunities for connection. Whether it’s reimagining existing events or introducing new initiatives, I am committed to making our final year stand out in the best way possible.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?: I am deeply passionate about leadership and community building. Throughout my time on campus, I have dedicated myself to creating spaces where students feel included and empowered. As a leader, I value collaboration, transparency, and action. I am ready to put in the work to make our senior year unforgettable, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve our class in this role.
