Position title: Senior Class Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Director
From growing up as a Chicago suburbanite, spending her summers in Milwaukee, and now living in Madison, Yahvi has had her fair share of the midwestern experience. In her time at UW Madison, Yahvi has studied Sociology and Health Promotion and Health Equity, and has received certificates in Global Health and Leadership. Outside of her academic experience at UW, Yahvi has joined and held leadership roles in a number of student organizations, including being President of Amnesty International and India Students’ Association, volunteering with BASES, and being a photographer for ALT Magazine. Over the past 3 years at UW Madison, her interdisciplinary curriculum and her extracurricular work have allowed her to focus on understanding disparities within various ethnic backgrounds and advocating for underserved populations’ access to equitable health, and being in the Senior Class Office as a DEI Officer is a valuable addition to this goal. In her time in this role, Yahvi hopes to create opportunities for an equitable community at UW Madison and ensure that students continue to enjoy their time at UW Madison as much as she has. After graduation, Yahvi will pursue a career in health policy and receive her Master’s in Public Health concentrated in Global Health Policy. While she won’t miss racing up Bascom or all-nighters in college, she will certainly miss photographing all the different seasons on Capitol Square and wasting Sundays at her favorite Madison coffee shops. Here’s to a great end to a very caffeinated four years!
