What qualities and experiences make you the ideal candidate for this position?

I believe my involvement across campus makes me a strong candidate for Senior Class President. I am currently an executive member of five student organizations, hold two campus jobs, and have an internship in state government. I pursue these opportunities because I believe they help me grow as a person while also contributing positively to the organizations and communities I am part of.

Balancing these different roles has strengthened my time management, communication, and organizational skills. It has also allowed me to develop leadership experience in many different settings and taught me how to collaborate with a wide range of people. Through my leadership roles in Leading Women of Tomorrow, College Democrats, ASM, AreaRED, Mercile J. Lee Scholars Program, and ASM, I have helped organize events that bring students together and inform them about important topics. All of these different opportunities have given me experience planning programs and working with different teams to create unique programming on campus.

I also genuinely enjoy meeting new people and building connections that last beyond a single interaction. In my current role as a House Fellow, I have the opportunity to meet and support students regularly while helping them shape their experience at the university. This role has taught me the importance of listening, supporting others, and creating a welcoming community, and these are values I would continue to bring to the President position.

Overall, my leadership experiences, dedication to the campus community, and passion for connecting with others have prepared me well to serve and represent the senior class at UW-Madison.

If elected, what are your plans for the Senior Class Office?

Your college experience goes by extremely quickly, and because of that, many of us miss opportunities to participate in activities along the way. As your class president, I would want to create as many opportunities as possible for seniors to make lasting memories during our final year at UW-Madison. This would include organizing events that bring us together and give us the chance to make up for any experiences that we may have missed. These events could take many forms. For example, I believe senior networking events with alumni would be incredibly beneficial, especially as the majority of graduating seniors are preparing to enter the workforce. I would also love to help strengthen connections between seniors and the Madison community beyond campus, so that every student graduates feeling connected not only to the university but also to the city we have spent these years in. Additionally, I would like the process of selecting our class gift to be more open to the student body so that it truly feels like a collective effort and something our entire class can be proud of contributing to. There are so many opportunities for us to meet one another and celebrate the inclusivity and diversity of our graduating class during our final year, and I would love to be in the position to help create those experiences. Overall, my goal would be to help create a senior experience that is celebratory, inclusive, and meaningful for everyone graduating.

Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?

My running mate and I are both Mercile J. Lee Scholars, and this is a large part of our connection and identity on campus. We will always be advocates for diversity and inclusion and will be displaying that if elected into these positions.
